Goodbye San Marco Group?
The Italian professional team San Marco Group that had problems to raise
the UCI-stipulated bank guarantee at the beginning of the season seems to
have reached the end of the road. The riders have only been paid for one
month and won't continue if they are not paid in full.
The decision was taken on the eve of GP Frankfurt, which can be the team's
last race.
Their top rider, Gabriele Missaglia, has had a remarkable beginning of the
season with top placings in three World Cup races; 9th in Ronde van
Vlaanderen, 15th in Amstel Gold Race and 18th in Liege-Bastogne-Liege and
won't have any difficulties in finding a new employer. Another notable
rider is Belgian Eric Vanderaerden.
Twelve Coppi-bikes on the loose
MG-Technogym had twelve of their fully equipped Fausto Coppi-bikes stolen
from a parking garage in Frankfurt the night before the GP Frankfurt.
