Nikolai Bo Larsen (Den) Amore e Vita + 0.30 Final Stage ReportRoberto Petito, winner of this month's Tirreno-Adriatico race, took the Tour of Sardinia on Sunday despite falling near the finish.The Italian, who had been leading the pack in the fifth and final stage, went too fast into a bend around 400 metres from the line and fell. But he had enough of an advantage to take overall victory as well as the mountains crown. Fellow Italian Claudio Chiappucci was second in the final stage to finish eight seconds adrift of Petito and runner-up in Sardinia for the third time in his career. Italy's Massimiliano Mori won the stage and finished fifth overall. |
