France to help China

China is to send cyclists to France to prepare for the Sydney Olympics in 2000 and next year's Asian Games in Bangkok.

Representatives of the French Cycling Association made an accord with Chinese Cycling Association during a recent visit, the official Xinhua news agency reported.

China is hoping to boost its level to get an Olympic medal. Its best result in cycling so far was seventh place.

France will invite Chinese riders to the mountain bike Tour de France and will support Chinese efforts to stage an event in the mountain bike World Cup in 1999 and the world junior championships in 2000.

Blijlevens

Jeroen Blijlevens makes his returne next Sunday in the Omloop van het Waasland in Belgium after a virus infection which started in February.

"I have only one race in the legs. I am missing competition and have little condition. It's a pity because I came out of the winter in good condition."

He will make a decision about participation in Gent-Wevelgem (April 9) later.

Haringa

Ingrid Haringa (2 medals in Atlanta with the Olympics) is out for a few months because of a knee-injury. "I jumped over some chairs during the team presentation of the national selection last week and injured my knee".

This season will be the last season for Ingrid.
