Kermesse News from Belgium

Hendrick van Dijck won a 154 km Kermesse in Nokere, Belgium yesterday. The belgian finished with a 3 second gap from his fellow dutch rider, Jelle Nijdam with Michel Cornelisse at 9 seconds coming third.

Tour de France News

The organisers of the Tour de France will ask the UCI for permission to include a French National teacm in the coming Tour. This was prompted by the dearth of likely French starters in this year's Tour.

Gan is the only French team with enough points to get into the first 18 teams for the tour. Even though there are four wild card slot, Tour Director Jean Marie Leblanc does not think that there is one French team that would deserve the entry at present by this option. But one national team with the best of the professionals from the smaller French teams gives Leblanc a good alternative to grant such a team the wild card entry.
