TVM Team for Tour - From Dutch Papers
Cees Priem has selected a seven riders for sure:
Blijlevens
Den Bakker
Voskamp
Knaven
Van Petegem
Hamburger
Roux
For the last two places four riders have to wait:
Hoffman
Skibby
Michaelsen
Van Dijck
Priem is thinking about taking an extra rider with his team to Rouen next
Wednesday. Probably he will decide in Rouen about the last two riders.
Jack and Jones Speculation
It has been recently announced in the official press that Bjarne Riis and
Jesper Skibby
will be riding on the proposed new Danish team, "Jack & Jones" next year.
Michael Holm from Denmark has sent an
alternative view.
It is worth publishing. He doubts the official press speculation for 4 reasons.
They are:
- Last year Riis signed a two year long contract with Godefroot.
- Only two days ago a danish reporter asked Skibby if he was considering
"Jack & Jones". He replied that it was not an option because the team
wouldn't be able to pay both him and Brian Holm.
- TVM has a job waiting for Skibby when his career in the saddle is over.
- Team "Jack & Jones " has also announced that the most important races
they will be able to participate in will be the Tour of Denmark and the Tour of
Sweden as there will not be enough money for the Classics. In that case there
wouldn't
be enough money for the Tour de France either. How they will pay Riis is
another question and it is doubtful that Riis will say no to Tour participation
just to ride on a Danish team.
