The Giro d'Italia 1997 starts in Venice

In 1997, on May 17, the Giro will start in Venice with a circuit race Venice - Lido. The contract between the Giro organisers and the city of Venice was signed Tuesday. The second stage will start in Mestre. It is the second time the race starts in Venice, the first was in 1972.
