The Giro d'Italia 1997 starts in Venice
In 1997, on May 17, the Giro will start in Venice with a circuit race
Venice - Lido. The contract between the Giro organisers and the city of
Venice was signed Tuesday. The second stage will start in Mestre.
It is the second time the race starts in Venice, the first was in 1972.
No Chiappucci/no Bugno in Atlanta
Alfredo Martini has announced the Italian selection for the Olympic games
in Atlanta:
Fabio Baldato, Michele Bartoli, Francesco Casagrande, Mario Cipollini,
Maurizio Fondriest, Fabrizio Guidi, Giovanni Lombardi, Nicola Minali and
Stefano Zanini.
A team loaded with very good sprinters and that shows what he thinks of the
