Robbie McEwan Definite for Tour with Rabobank

First Tour.....another Australian get's a berth.

Rolf's Diary Update

Davos, 25 June 97

9th stage, Tour de Suisse

At the beginning we had it relative easy, but because of that it was that much faster at the end. By the first climb it was somewhat critical for the first time. Alberto Elli and I had to fetch the coal from the fire again for our leader. Up until Klosters we had no time catch our breath, and we didn't need the smallest cogs at all, we rode always in a 53x19 or larger. Because of that I blew after that! But our leader is still leader, and now it's only another day, and then it would be already the forth time that I'm on the winning team at the Tour de Suisse. And earn some money!

Zihlschlacht, 27 June 97

The bags are unpacked, the Tour de Suisse is finished. On the last day the Mapei team with Oskar Camenzind attacked, of course, but they were so blown that we could steer our leader to the velodrome without any problems. The fourth time that I'm in the winning team of the Tour de Suisse! And today in the course of the day I'll check the team accounting books. I think there will be about 3,000 Swiss Francs [$2,083 US] for each rider left over, not bad in only 10 days!
