Report
Austrian Joseph Lontscharitch was the winner of the
third stage, when he beat his breakaway companion,
Mexican Eduardo Uribe on the sprint to the finish line.
The 192 kilometers from the cities of San Luis de Potosi
and Leon were covered by the Austrian in 5:02:53,
four seconds ahead of Uribe and almost 4 minuted ahead
of the peloton, which came in lead by Spaniard Santos
Gonzalez, along with then leader Manuel Carvajal.
The organization of the Ruta Azteca didn't provide the
public with the overall classification saying that the
delay was caused by the stage which was delayed
causing it to end after dark and preventing the
"foto-finish" machine to show the passing of all
riders clearly.
