Big Prize on offer for Derny Hour

Harry Mater, the passionate fan of track racing and organiser of the RAI derny criterium, has announced a premie of 25,000 guilders for the rider who betters the unofficial track hour record of Peter Post in the derny event.

Post rode 63,783 kms on February 28 1965 in Antweren for the hour. The KNWU (Koninklijke Nederlandse Wielren Unie - Dutch Cycling Federation) said today that the official hour record was set by Robert Slippens who rode 56.902 metres an hour on the 21/9/1996 behind the derny controlled by Bruno Walrave at the track in Sloten.

Team Time Trial will count for Overall GC

For the first time in the history of the Olympias tour in the Netherlands, the team time trial will count for the overall GC. The tour will be held between May 16 and 25. The start is in Hoogeveen, and the last stage ends in Amsterdam. The team time trial over 43 kms will be on Monday May 19. The ITT is programmed for the second last day. In total, there are 11 stages and a prologue, including the TTT and ITT.
