Italian Biagio Conte from Team Scrigno, in a tight sprint
achieved his first victory of the season by winning the Gran Premio
Costa Etrusca, contested at Livorno over 157.5 Kms.
Conte and his compatriots Baldato, Guidi and Balducci
maintained a nice duel in the last few meters of the
race, which made the judges go over the photo finish
more than once to decide who the winner was.
On the Italian national calendar and absent from the international
calendar, as last year the GP of the Etruscan Coast preceded the first
race on the international calendar, tomorrow's GP d'Ouverture La
Marseillaise. Yesterday's (February 2) race was won in a sprint by
Biagio Conte (Ita, Scrigno) with Fabio Baldato (Ita, MG) second. In a
close sprint, Baldato was initially awarded first place.
