Thevenet quits as director of French Cycling

Dual Tour de France winner Bernard Thevenet has quit as director of the French cycling team it was announced on Friday.

Thevenet, 48 and director of the French road race team since 1994, was said to have resigned for professional reasons.

It is believed that the Frenchman's many media commitments including commentating on July's Tour de France led to his decision.

Charley mottet is the new director.
