Troy Clarke set a race record to win the prestigious Austral Wheel Race at the Northcote Velodrome. Clarke showed blistering speed in the last 200 metres of the 2000 metre handicap event. The Wheel Race is Australia's biggest track handicap. Clarke won in 2 mins 2 secs. He came from behind to overhaul Lee Delucca (runner-up) and third-placed Dylan Boone in the last 10 metres.
