New route for Het Volk

The season-opener in Belgium, Het Volk (March 2), will have a new route this year. In the past it has had both start and finish in Ghent, but this year it will start in Place Saint-Pierre in Ghent and finish in Lokeren, about 20 kms north-east of Ghent. The climbs of Bosberg, Kluisberg and Kleiberg will disappear but the riders still will have take in 12 climbs and sections of pave; including Old Kwaremont, Muur van Geerardsbergen, Eikenberg and Molenberg.
