UCI Relents on Team Sizes
The UCI has gone back on the decision made at its pre-worlds meeting in San
Sebastian in October to limit the size of Division 1 elite teams to 22
riders and will continue to allow a maximum of 25. This follows a petition
from "pro" teams and rests on grounds of the "right to work" for riders.
The maximum of 25 riders per team will be retained on two conditions. the
complement of teams above 22 riders must include at least three neo-pros and
(if I translate correctly) a there will be a limitation of two races entered
per team in the traditional racing countries at any one time.
