DuPont pulls out of 1997 race

DuPont has announced that the company will discontinue its involvement with the Tour DuPont cycling event, effective immediately.

"DuPont will not sponsor the race in 1997 since contractual obligations have not been met as a result of a lawsuit between the event's owners," says DuPont Brand Manager Jamie Murray. "This has resulted in six months of planning delays, and the dissolution of the event's management team, which had provided continuity for the race."

DuPont announced in July that the company would not renew its contract option for title sponsorship of the event after the 1997 race.
