December 1 1996 - Adelaide Superdrome BikeSouth 300 Lap Derby (75km.)

Former Northern Territory junior cyclist Neil Robinson came into form during the latter part of the race to dominate the sprints and came over a tired former world champion Brett Aitken to win the final sprint and edge out Aitken for third place.
