There were many break aways featuring Matt White, Miloslav Kejval and Jens Voigt. Jens made it into the descisive break of 5 and was 4th for the 2nd day running. He has given himself a real shot at a top GC position with the time trial and a 104 km road stage tomorrow to finish the tour. Peter Rogers abandoned today with a chest cold and Brett Dennis abandoned after losing time and getting off the course.Stage 4, Individual Time Trial in Nieuil l'Espoir, 26.8 kms:1. The day was again wet and windy. In the afternoon was a 104 km road stage around Poitiers. The field was reshuffeled in the time trial with unknown Portugese rider, Joaquim Anrade blasting his way from nowhere to the lead and denying German time trial specialist, Uwe Peschel, his 3rd time trial win on the run. We ended up in much the same position with Jens passing guys and having other guys pass him. Next race for the Australian Team is the Tour de l'Avenir beginning in Brest, France on the 3rd of September. |
