Bugno and the Steroids

Several German news agencies report that Italian Gianni Bugno (MG-Technogym) is suspected to have taken some Testosterone at the Tour de Suisse. For his high level of Testosterone, Bugno had the explanation that he has this high level because of his special physically characteristics. For this, he asserts to have an expert medical opinion.

It's also said that Fabiano Fontanelli (MG-Technogym) and Franco Ballerini (Mapei-GB) were found to have taken dope three month ago.

Rominger stays with Mapei

Tony Rominger will stay for one more year with the Mapei-Team because got the offer to work for the Mapei Industries after his career - maybe in one of the abroad dependances of Mapei. It was also saidthat Rominger would like to act as a helper for a new team leader - to give back a bit of all the help he himself has got from helpers during his career.

Dutch Criterium Result

Dwars door Genderingen (26.08.96) is a race for elites with and without contract over 168 kms. It was D. Sjoberg from Collstrop who took home the flowers and the kisses.

Silver Jubilee in Boblingen, 90 km:

Jan Ullrich was the big winner of the "Silver Jubilee Race" of Racing-Promoter Winfried Holtmann in Boblingen/Germany on Monday evening.1971, Holtmann had organised his first pro race in Germany. 1989, he founded the "Team Stuttgart" that in 1991 became the "Team Telekom".

In the race, Jan Ullrich went away with only a few kilometres to go. He won with a lead of 18 seconds. For his victory, he got a Mercedes Kombi - an didn't know how to divide his price. "I have to share it with the Team, because it did again fantastic work," Ullrich said. In the race, Bjarne Riis had also been very active. The Dane won two seperate sprints.

News from Switzerland

The transfer of Pascal Richard from the MG team to "La Francaise des Jeux" is a roumour. In the French Sportsnewspaper "L'EQUIPE" Pascal Richard states in a interview:

"On Septembre 4th I will announce the name of my new team. You will be suprised..."

On the other hand "L'EQUIPE" says: Richard will sign for a French team. It could be PETIT-CASINO (another rumour).
