Bjarne Riis to start in Germany
Bjarne Riis will take part in two races in Germany, as the German press
agency Sport-Informations-Dienst (sid) reports on Wednesday, the 14th of August. Riis will start in an International Race in Hamburg on the 25th of August. It also said that Olaf Ludwig, Erik Zabel (both Telekom), Tony Rominger (Mapei) and Jeroen Blijlevens (Rabobank) will take part in this race.
On the 25th of September, Riis will ride together with Jan Ullrich in a pair time trial (Telekom Grand Prix) in Karlsruhe. As sid reports, Abraham Olano will ride together with Tony Rominger in this time trial and Udo Boelts, winner of the Clasica San Sebastian last weekend, will be the partner of german champion Christian Henn.
More Austrian changes
Georg Totschnig will not go to Rabobank as reported yesterday. De Telegraaf reported instead that he has chosen Telekom instead.
Nijdam to retire
Jelle Nijdam will retire at the end of this season. This week is his 33rd birthday making him the oldest TVM riders and he said he cannot bring himself to ride another season.
