Race Report

Gianetti attacked 20km from the finish. Last year's winner Laurent Jalabert abandoned the race. It's said it's not a cause for concern -- he has not yet recovered from his efforts in the Tour of the Basque Country. Rominger, Indurain, Olano, Frattini, Fondriest, Gontchenkov, Bugno, Fr. Casagrande, and Zulle were also down to ride. Indurain, incidentally, is to pass on Liege-Bastogne-Liege and go for the Tour of Aragon (17-20 April).
