Preview

The first stage is relatively short, but it will be challenging for the competitors after a tough day in the saddle contesting the World Cup the previous day.

It is the first occasion that the cyclists will have raced into Tumbarumba, although many will have ridden the opening 56 kilometres when racing from Khancoban to Cabramurra, the stage that has decided most tours.

There is little doubt that the cyclists will appreciate not tackling the big climb up past Tumut 2 power station, a very demanding aspect of previous events, but the final 21 kilometres into Tumbarumba will also have many consistent climbs that could also have a major effect on the overall race.
