The last race proved to be the decider in the overall GC. A clear winter's day, with a cold NE wind pushing Scandanavian air over the UK, left the racing to tactics and not the weather. Various attacks from early on proved of little effect as the bunch were intent on keeping it all together. The main GC contenders were carefully marking each other and this allowed Paul Pickup to escape, joined quickly by Bryan Taylor. These two kept ahead of the field for the rest of the race and reversed last weeks first and second.
The final five laps saw a remarkable increase in speed and Chris Doel lead home the sprint, with Jason Streather crucially beating Peter Dickason in the sprint. Jason earned 52 points for this second place, which was enough to bump his top 10 scores up to 442 with Peter Dickason two points behind. Chris Doel overtook Bill Butterworth for thirrd place overall.
There will be an extra Spring Primavera Hillingdon race on the 23rd February. This is not part of the Winter Series.
