Scott McGrory and Matthew Gilmore have won the pairs competition in the 6 Hours of Euskadi, held on the Anoeta velodrome on February 9. The pair beat the soon to be retired Etienne De Wilde, who rode with Andreas Kappes. Juan and Gabriel Curuchet (Argentine) were third.
The race was already decided before the final sprint in the last of three Madisons. Gilmore attacked at the penultimate sprint and took Kappes/De Wilde and the Curuchets along, leaving main opponents Martinello and Villa a lap behind.
There was also a special Match Omnium, a ten lap time trial for Spanish road aces, which was won convincingly by Josepa Beloki with climber Roberto Laiseka in second.
