Taupo-Napier Classic - NE

Report

By John Cardwell

The 152 km Taupo-Napier classic is probably the toughest on the New Zealand Cycling calendar with a total of 12 climbs. The race this year was given increased importance with the entry of professionals, Brendon Vesty (Navigators) Matt Yates (Net Zero) and Brendon Cameron (Simpatico.com).

For Vesty it's part of his build up for the world championships in Portugal where he will start the pro road race with Glen Mitchell (Saturn), New Zealand's two riders in the men's pro road race.
