Casagrande preceded Gianni Faresin (Liquigas) and Patrice Halgand (Jean Delatour) in a solo victory. Casagrande's season has not been his best, after crashing out of the Giro d'Italia on the first stage, then abandoning the Tour de France which he hadn't initially planned in his program. His next goal is the Coppa Placci on Saturday.
