The AIS U23 team competed in the last race for the team before the World Championships in Lisbon. The race is called the Piccolo Giro di Lombardia and is over 171 km and started and finished in Como. It is Elite and Under 23 and had 184 starters.

The field began to fracture from the first few kilometers with our guys very active all day with the aim of a good workout as preparation for next week. The major climb of the day came at the 106 km mark and was a tough 15 km haul accross the peninsula of Lake Como. Scott Davis punctured at a curcial moment and lost contact with the front group. Allan climbed well to make the front group of 20 but lost contact to the leaders when the group split near the top of the climb.

11 riders got clear but split again over a climb in the closing kilometers with one comming back to Allan's group. Allan finished a solid 13th and 4th U23 rider with Russian, Denis Bondarenko taking the win in a two man sprint.
