Mitta Mitta to Mount Beauty
Ninety riders came out to race the final race of the winter cross country series. The conditions were perfect for a morning of racing with warm temperatures and only light winds barely noticeable in the shelter of the forest.
The course was a test of endurance with a large proportion of singletrack including some tough grinding singletrack climbs, and many surprisingly tight and slippery corners. The rough and rocky nature of the course accounted for many flat tyres, with a number of riders opting out after flatting.
In the Senior Men's race Ride Shop rider Peter Rogers made easy work of the course to win the race with Paul Burbidge Smith coming in second two minutes later, and Shane Paton in third.
In the Senior Women's race noted X-Terra triathlete Raeleigh Tennant led the race from start to finish.
In the Sport A Men's race Gareth Paton just held off a fast finishing David Newton to win. Paul Atyeo once again comfortably won the Veteran men's race, leaving him very clearly the series winner in this category.
