Report

By John Blake

A Grade rode 155 km on an out and back course from Te Awamutu into the hills of the North King Country beyond Waitomo Caves, which provided exciting racing. Tactics employed towards the end of the event enabled Graeme Miller to assist Matthew Yates to escape favourites Karl Moore and Ryan Russell to take the line 6 seconds clear. Miller stated in the press that it was payback for a season's work by Yates for him in the States.

Challenging courses provided worthy winners in all Grades, with professional event management, innovative measures such as: entry by email, on-line start-sheet on the clubs website - www.cyclesport.co.nz, ensured the growing popularity of the event.
