Belgian Bart Wellens (SpaarSelect) has won the international cyclo-cross race in Vossem today, in front of Sven Nijs and Richard Groenendaal (Rabobank). Wellens went to the front on the second lap, and was chased by Groenendaal. Then came Nijs and De Clercq, while World Champion Erwin Vervecken started to fall behind.
With two and a half laps to go, Groenendaal attacked. However, Wellens would not let him go, and chased and caught him. Wellens went on to take his fourth win of the season, with Nijs also catching Groenendaal to take second.
