Today's stage starting and finishing in Rieux-Minervois contained two hard climbs, at 42 and 28 kilometres to go. On the first climb (the 717m Col des Jouys), Pucinskaite's teammate Joane Somarriba put in a pre-emptive attack, before the Lithuanian and the Canadian got away on their own. The two quickly opened up a one minute gap, and were chased by Sandra Wampfler (Swi), Susan Palmer Komar (Can) and Susanne Ljungskog (Swe). However, they couldn't make any ground, and on the second climb, Pucinskaite dropped Bessette, but was caught on the descent. At the finish, the Lithuanian easily managed to account for Bessette in the sprint, and the gap between the two on GC is now 5 seconds. In third place, nearly 2 minutes behind today, was Judith Arndt (Germany), who finished on her own.
