Due to the civil war like situation in western Algeria the stages planned
to be held there was cancelled and substituted new parcours in the Alger

Fouka three riders attacked. Algerians Andjechairi and Zerguine, both
riding for Algeria B and German Thomas Hartmann kis no threat in the
general classification so they were allowed a generous gap, ten minutes
as most. But when three other riders, Bouamama, Bendjeriou and the Syrian
Ghanem, tried to bridge the Egyptians sped up the peloton in defence
of the yellow jersey worn by none the less than Amr El-Nady, remembered
for his gallant ride at the World's in Verona two years ago. The first
trio managed to stay away though and towards the end Tunisian Baâtout
