Omloop wins third GP Rudy Dhaenens

Belgian cyclist, Geert Omloop (Collstrop) has won the GP Rudy Dhaenens, a 188 kilometre race in Eastern Flanders. Omloop beat teammate Kristof Trouve by 10 seconds, with Estonian Janek Tombak (Cofidis) taking third place.

The race was dominated by a breakaway from Danny Baeyens, Paul Van Schaelen and Gordon McCauley, however they were caught with just 7 kilometres to go.

The race is named after ex-Belgian rider Rudy Dhaenens, who won the World Championships in 1990 in Japan, but died in a car accident four years ago.
