This season because of the Foot and Mouth Disease that affected the country, particularly in March, April and May, the Park was off limits because of Government restrictions. Unfortunately a number of events were lost and it is only now that clubs, who had fixtures listed there, are now running the events at different locations. The Usher Irish Road Club moved the Dickie Comerford to the Black Bull location. The juniors were afforded a lead of 3 minutes plus on the scratch group. From the outset of the 40km race the juniors got in a fine rhythm, which kept the chasers at bay. Up front it was the young Tim Cassidy of the promoting club and Niall O'Shea (Cycleways) who forged ahead with less than a quarter of the event remaining. On the run in to the finish it was Cassidy who won easily ahead of O'Shea with Mark Kiernan of the Northern club Provision. Results Men - 40km road race 1 T. Cassidy (Usher Irish Road Club) 2 N.
