Dutch rider Leontien Van Moorsel won the Anteprima Rosa, the individual time trial which today (Sunday) opened the 12th edition of the Giro d'Italia Internazionale Femminile.

Even though the time trial does not count for the overall classification of the Giro, the best women's time trialists in the world gave it everything along the sun soaked sea front. Van Moorsel, 31 years old, of the Dutch Farm Frites-Hartol team beat current world time trial champion Mari Holden (Alfa Lum) by eight seconds. Van Moorsel also won the Anteprima Rosa of the Giro last year in Trentino and three other stages.
