The Gold Coast based European Professionals today showed the local A Grade crew the ins and outs of riding a bike. Not long after the beginning of the 1 hour criterium a six man break rode away from the main field. This break contained no less than Scott Sunderland, Robbie McEwen, Nick Gates and Jason Phillips, all who are contracted to trade teams in Europe. Also in this decisive break was local rider Jayson Austin, who has been on a bike not all that long and Luke Stockwell from Brisbane.
Robbie McEwen rode away from the break which left Luke Stockwell to claim the sprint to the line for second place closely followed by Nick Gates and Jason Phillips for 3rd and 4th.
A hardened group of A graders completed the course after one hour and they included Dave Costanzo, John Evangelista and a host of other Masters Riders.
