Saturday afternoon saw the running of the "Bruce Lynton BMW Wheelrace" over 2000m at the Geoff Reardon Velodrome on the Gold Coast. Nineteen-year-old Jamie Seip of the Gold Coast Goldstars Club rode as the backmarker off 60 metres and had pulled everyone in with 2 laps to go. Second place getter, Jim Burke (Cats), off 155m, led out at two to go and Seip came around him to take out the premiere Men's Wheelrace on the Gold Coast.
Kurt Dutton (HPRW), off 90m, came in third and in form veteran Les Heap (GCMB), off 105m, finished fast in fourth place.
Riders are reminded that the "Bruce Lynton BMW New Years Day Criterium" will be run at Nerang and for riders to get their entries in before the day. This race has become an important event for the local and visiting European Professionals as a chance to stamp their mark on the first race of the new year.
