Lotto's Glenn d'Hollander has triumphed in the Tour de la Région Wallonne, successfully defending his lead in the final stage with a solid fourth place behind Niklas Axelsson (Mercury), Jo Planckaert (Cofidis), and Leon van Bon (Mercury). D'Hollander laid the foundation for his victory with a solo win in stage 3, following it up with a fourth place in the stage 5 time trial to beat Bert Roesems (Landbouwkrediet) by 30 seconds. Third overall went to Cofidis' David Millar, who finished second in the TT. The final stage from Blegny to Aubel (160.7 km) was marked by a dangerous move from Niklas Axelsson and Benoît Poilvet (Credit Agricole, 3rd on GC). Unfortunately for Poilvet, he couldn't hold Axelsson's wheel on the long finishing climb, and the Swede managed to hold off the rest for the win. However, d'Hollander also had great legs today, putting time into Roesems who finished 8th.
