The Australians started the action with the whole team attacking in a cross wind section before the climb. This caused a 15 man break shich included Simon Gerrans, Gene Bates and Daniel Mackey. On the climb another 6 went across including Allan Davis. Next Scott Davis came over with another group leaving us with 5 in the top 30. When serious action started a group of 11 shot clear of this group including Allan Davis. Unfortunately he cracked on the second last climb of the day and struggled in for 11th.
