Stage 3 - April 12: Tiercé - Angers, 94.1 km

Jaan Kirspuu gives an encore

The Estonian Ag2r sprinter, Jaan Kirsipuu, is enjoying some good form at the moment, after he took his second consecutive stage in the Circuit Cycliste de la Sarthe. Kirsipuu averaged over 47 km/h to beat German Robert Lochowski (Fakta) and Francois Simon (Bonjour) at the end of the short stage. There were no changes to the GC and Laurent Brochard kept the jersey.

Again Kirsipuu benefitted from the work of his Lithuanian teammate, Linas Balciunas, who had attacked with Nicolas Dumont (Phonak) and David Navas (iBanesto.com) earlier in the stage. They were chased down before Angers, as Bradley McGee (FdJ) launched a counter-attack. He was considered too dangerous to let go, and Laurent Brochard's Jean Delatour team brought him back.

Both McGee and David Millar (Cofidis) are considered favourites for the overall win, with this afternoon's 9 km time trial being crucial.
