Dutchman Michael Boogerd (Rabobank) has won the 41st edition of the Brabanste Pijl (Flèche Brabançonne) which finished on top of the Côte d'Alsemberg after 194 kilometres. The former world number 2 beat Australian Scott Sunderland (Fakta) and Belgian Axel Merckx (Domo), one day after Andrei Tchmil demolished the field in the GP E3-Harelbeke.

Rabobank managed to place three riders in the final nine man break, including Marc Lotz and Gert Verheyen, and had the numbers over Domo-Farm Frites who had Merckx and Dave Bruylandts there. Boogerd has now won 6 races so far this season, and seems to be back to his best form.

"I will not ride in the Tour of Flanders," he said after his win. "Instead I will concentrate on Liege-Bastogne-Liege, my big objective for the early part of the season."
