Based on the attractive town of Beverley, the race plotted a tough route, spread over three stages. Following a short time trial on Saturday morning, the following two road stages features steep climbs and the race's narrow roads presented a muddy, windswept and often flooded prospect as inclement weather dominated the weekend. The 3.3 mile time trial was won by Julian Ramsbottom, ahead of US Postal pro Jamie Burrow, making a rare and welcome appearance in the UK. However, surprise package of the weekend was seventeen year old Keiran Page, riding for the England Potential Under 21 team. Page won the 73 mile second stage in a highly impressive manner, out-sprinting national champion John Tanner in a very quick downhill finish. The 89 mile third stage went to Chris Young, who finished second overall, behind the consistent Tanner. Anthony Malarczyk finished third and consolidated his lead in the Premier Calendar series.
