Gold Coast CATS CC Criterium

Nerang, Qld, April 29, 2001

Numbers were down this week with many riders at the TREK Series north of Brisbane. There was one major change to this week's crit - the finish was at the top of the climb, instead of at the bottom of a fast downhill sprint. This resulted in a few new names on the result sheet, but many of the regular placegetters were still there too.

Because of the small A Grade field it was combined with B grade, and top sprinter Troy Stacey showed that he can sprint uphill just as well as down, beating Riki Lanyon and Dave Costanzo. Paul Howard outlasted Jim Burke and Mike Griffen in B Grade, Wilf Hubac was the victor in C Grade and Frank Newnham took out D Grade.
