In the first official race of the 2001 Cycling Tasmania road calender, Price won the Fred Keefe Memorial at Cressy last Sunday. Held over a tough 70 km course in consistent winds and intermittent rain patterns, Price overcame his B Grade handicap of three minutes to hold the reel in the leading two groups and hold the backmarkers at bay. In a tough finish, Price won B Grade and overall honours from Paul Turner. Winner of the A Grade race was Karl Menzies ahead of Steve Aitken. Racing for juniors was held earlier in the day with Jason Jones (U17), Matthew Bonham (U15) and Alex Holden (U13) all successful. This week's racing action will turn to Bishopsbourne with the Jim Phillips Memorial, which was originally scheduled for May 5. ResultsOverall - 70 km 1 Craig Price 2 Paul Turner 3 J.
