2001 Blue's Bike/Bike Rack Spring Classics

McNeill Back on Top

After a puncture and illegal assistance penalty in the first race of the Spring Classics MTB series, Kent McNeill of OBCR showed why he is one of the top riders in Nebraska, Saturday morning at Branched Oak. Once again, clear skies and strong winds made for a challenging race. Despite valiant efforts by NHS/UNMC rider Mike Johnson and OBCR teammate Darin Schlake, McNeill pulled away in the final two laps of the six lap contest to jump right back into the point series competition.

Other top finishers included: Team SNORT rider Matt Stricker in the Sport race, Michael Lavelle of Spilker Ales in Masters 30+, Blue's Bike rider Dave Pleskac in the Masters 40+ event, Roxanne Abbott of The Bike Way in Sport Women, The Bike Way's Laurie Hotovy in Beginner Women, Gus Girlado in the Beginner Men race and Tyler Carmichael of Blue's Bike in the Junior event.
