The whole group of 9 riders raced there. They were Allan & Scott Davis, Simon Gerrans, Bruce McIntosh, Jeremy Yates, Daniel Mackey, Graeme Brown, Gene Bates and Adrian Laidler. The field exploded the first time they climbed the difficult climb on the hilly circuit. Riders were withdrawing in droves because of the cold conditions. Allan Davis, Gene Bates and Jeremy Yates were our survivors with Gene and Allan getting away in a small group on the last climb, only to be brought back by the finish circuit. A group of 3 escaped and held on to win. Jeremy finally lost contact with the front group and Gene helped Allan to his 6th place, picking up 10th himself. They were also the only Under 23 division riders in the top 10. The same team rode with the exception of Scott Davis, who we decided to rest to helo him recover from a cold. The course consisted of a series of circuits with 3 Gp Mountains followed by 60 flat kilometers including 5 laps of a 8km finish circuit. There were plenty of crashes and we had riders involved in our fair share with Jeremy crashing twice and Adrian, 3 times. This time Daniel Mackey rode probably his best race to date to get over the climbs in the front group and Allan working hard to help bring Graeme back to the front in the 2nd group. It eventually came back together near the finish circuit with 3 riders remaining off the front. On the finish circuit the 3 came back and around 80 riders faced the judges in a bunch sprint. Mirco Lorenzetto won with Graeme running 5th with Allan doing a power of work to help him. Report courtesy of Brian Stephens/AIS U23 coach Results - 156km
