No Sandstød in World's TT

Danish time trialist, Michael Sandstød, will not start in the World Championships ITT. He still hasn't got the time trial bike that he was supposed to have by the Tour de France and doesn't want to do a mediocre performance on Matt Gilmore's bike. He will use the latter in the coming Olympic time trial, after a bike was delivered by Look for the Tour, but was built with completely the wrong measurements.

"I just don't care to spent more energy on preparing for the TT World's and then get a lot of criticism for not doing my best as I did last year," he said to Danish daily BT.

Dutch World's team

Three of the Dutch coaches, Jean Paul van Poppel, Monique Knol and Herman Snoeijink have announced their selections for the World Championships in Plouay, October 10-15. Men's coach, Gerrie Knetemann will wait until October 2.

Leontien van Moorsel is still on the list for the road race and the time trial, but in Sydney yesterday she told NOS television that "I'm not going to the World Championships". She will stop her season after the Olympic time trial next Saturday, however the KNWU hasn't received an official cancellation from her yet.
