Stage 1 - September 13: Porcari - Massa E Cozzile, 96.6 km

Stahurskaya takes over

It was supposed to be an easy stage but the 2 climbs to Massa (230 mt) and especially the descent made a real selection. Zinaida Stahurskaia accelerated on the first passage up to Massa and managed 15" in a short time. Behind her only the leader Alessandra Cappellotto tried to close the gap on the dangerous descent.

At the beginning of the last lap they were together at the front of the race with over 40 seconds on the second group formed by Parente, Luperini and Polkanova. The Belorussian Stahurskaya tried to escape on the last climb but Cappellotto resisted. In the final sprint the Italian was easily beaten by the Fanini cyclist who went to the top of the overall classification.
