  • Stage 1 - September 21: Tarragona - La Pineda, 150.5 km
  • Stage 2 - September 22: Reus - La Tossa de Montbuí, 139.1 km
  • Stage 3a - September 23: Igualada - Castell d'Olèrdola, 94.9 km
  • Stage 3b - September 23: Moja - Castell d'Olèrdola, 6.2 km ITT
  • Stage 4 - September 24: Sant Joan Despí - Barcelona, 132.4 km

Preview

This race substitutes the old Barcelona-Montpellier and is an important part of the build up for the U23 World Championships. Four foreign national teams participate as well as all the top Spanish amateur and espoirs teams and also a number of foreign amateur groups. The race is 520 kms long with no less than fourteen mountain passages, six of them category one.

Stage 1 - September 21: Tarragona - La Pineda, 150.5 km

The Italian National Team, preparing for the World's, dominated the first stage of the Vuelta a Catalonia Porvenir with four riders in the decisive break of twelve on the last mountain of the day. Two of them got away to put five seconds between themselves and a growing peloton.

Stage 2 - September 22: Reus - La Tossa de Montbuí, 139.1 km

23 riders managed to get away on a fairly easy part of the stage. Leading Gasparre (Italy) missed the opportunity but since several of his team mates were on the white leadr's jesrsey stayed in the Italian team, now on stage winning Stefano Guerrini who soloed to victory 1.56 ahead of team mate Bernucci first.
