With a longer stage scheduled for the afternoon less than hours after the finish, the hesitancy was understandable. The main attack of the day came with 20 kilometres to go, when John Lieswyn (Australia Post), Jeremy Hunt (Southern Grampians) and Tommy Evans (Latrobe City) gapped the rest with 20 kilometres to go. They held their advantage to fight out the stage win, with the American (John Lieswyn) beating the Englishman (Jeremy Hunt) and the Irishman (Tommy Evans). Australian Corey Sweet (Southern Grampians) won the bunch sprint for fourth. There were no changes to the general classification and Henk Vogels retained his lead. Report courtesy of Rob Gaylard.
