Groenendaal takes first SP

Rabobank's World Champion, Richard Groenendaal won the first Superprestige race of the season in Ruddervoorde, Belgium, beating Belgians Bart Wellens and Marc Janssens by over a minute. The parcours was suited to stronger riders, and Groenendaal repeatedly attacked in the early laps to establish command. Afterwards, he expressed satisfaction with the win, saying that it was a good omen for the rest of the season.

The race is the first of eight this season, with the next scheduled for November 12 in Asper Gavere, Belgium.
